What Are Some of the Biggest Reasons That You Haven't Commissioned Someone to Build Your Website?

Principally because costs are all over the map as is quality. You never know what you are going to get.

My business is franchised so all of the websites are multi-million dollar sites that do all the marketing for me.

Call-to-Action Landing Pages and/or, social media are the way to go!

Cost, cost, and cost. I am a freelance designer/illustrator working from a home office and need an easy solution for an online portfolio. Don't have the budget, or need, for anything more.

I had an employee with website experience who did ours. It worked out well.

Well, cost is one. But the bigger one is that there are several platforms that cater to my line of work and make it very easy for me to create and update my website while keeping it beautiful and functional. As a creative I have a vision for exactly what I want. However, I've been on some projects where they tried to create the website themselves... and ended up hiring someone because it sucked.

Bad past experience with a very reputable company forced me to learn it for myself. I still hire out SEO optimization type stuff but the design part, I keep in house. I didn't feel like they really cared about representing my brand or speaking to my market. If you do that well, you're golden. If I felt like the developer cared about my mission and my clients as much as I did, I may have had a better experiance.

Because I happen to be a graphic designer as well as a DJ and as such I design my own websites and do my own SEO. Because I believe it will costs thousands of dollars that I don't currently have, and because my broker gave me a website, so I can use that until I can do better.
