What we are doing to promote ourselves as a small, out of the way Pizzeria off the beaten path, is by word of mouth.
We are also working on making sure all of our information in search engines is correct. We would like to be higher on maps.We updated our menus.
We try to be intuitive with what people want, and simply things a bit. People want fast, so when you look for Pizza in Hollister, you should be able to find it quickly.
We want to make sure that customers have the best dining experience possible. This experience starts when they are hungry, before they even reach our restaurant.
Good customer service starts when the customer is looking for a place to eat. Having great customer service is being found quickly, easily, and providing the information the guest is looking for without confusion.
In the Food Industry, when your guest is hungry, they need you. It is your duty to find them. Don't let those guys go hungry. Feed them.
Simple intuition does the trick. Applying this to the digital world is the magic.
Everyone has something different that worked for them. So there is no one size fits all model. First, what hasn't worked for me is bulk mailers and spending thousands on magazine ads. Your business model (are you mainly B2B or B2C), should determine your strategy. Will most of your customers come from the local community or do you plan to ship your product?
My business model is local within a 10 mile radius. These are 95% of my customers, so this is my focus. We post daily on social media and sometimes twice a day. Many customers find us on Google and Yelp. And you really need to have stellar reviews, a minimum of 4.0 on a 1-5 scale. If you don't have this, stop everything else and focus on why the reviews are not there. If you already have this then work on getting your product in as many tummies as possible because people have an emotional attachment with good food.
So get out there and participate in as many local "Taste of" events and charitable sponsorships. I do not give any cash, but instead, in-kind donations. Again, if people see your ad on a billboard, they might remember...maybe. But if they taste your product and really like it, they will absolutely return....with friends and family.
As most people will agree- it's different for everyone and depends on what your selling. I worked at a hospital prior to going ALL IN on my cakes and baked goods so I had a large clientele due to bringing in cakes for certain occasions and bosses etc. After that, I did the mailer product for 6 months within a 5 mile radius of my home to get the word out and offered coupons. I got maybe 10 back...so that didn't necessarily work but I DId received many phone calls from them so the 'word of mouth' idea worked. I currently do drop off' so of samples to local businesses and leave business cards. I also have my first outdoor festival that I will be participating in this weekend. I think you're BEST way to aquire customer's are people's referrals. I can't tell you how many people pick up cakes and say to me 'my friend gets all her cakes from you" or 'I seen your work on FB and can't wait to see my cake!'
Keep pushing and any time you have the opportunity to promote your product- DO SO! Sometimes free samples brings great customers for life!
Trust and use the proven methods with a twist of tech! Here are the steps that can be super effective for your business!
1) Be ready to offer a deal (favorable deal for you and your customers!) Offering deals on discount food, free food, etc.. is part of marketing... so expect to offer some in exchange for more customers!
2) In-2-Out marketing! Starts from within and work your way outwards! Think of Target/Macys/McDonalds, and more! They offer their own app and their employees constantly ask the consumers to download and save! You must have the mentality to tell your servers/employees to tell them about being on a mobile app! (in this case, let's use MOSE as an example!)
3) Once consumer heard the message, and have downloaded the app, teach them about the deals offered on the app (MOSE app acts as if it's your own app for your business without the need for you to build your own)
4) After downloading the app, teaching about the coupon, reward the consumer with this discount posted! (They will be happy that they've saved money!)
5) Let them know that you offer a loyalty reward program! Give them a stamp for their purchase today! (They will be happy to know that they are earning toward something they will be back for!)
6) Repeat the process, create new deals and share them with the consumers, bring them in again and again using loyalty stamps to encourage repeat buys!
7) Offer cool games for added entertainment value! (MOSE's scavenger hunt game!) Keeping your customers well informed, happy, and fun is the way to bring them back more often!
8) Best of all, everything that has been mentioned above is all in the pocket of your customers! You will never be forgotten!
If you like to learn more on what MOSE app is all about, feel free and contact me and I'd be more than happy to share more info with you! We guarantee you will be successful when you use the MOSE app! (www.moseapp.com)
We have worked with many food based clients, especially dealing in food/healtth related products and restaurants.
For most of the product based food business, we observed that niche food based channels, especially the ones that deals with images and products listings works the best. Also, for one health supplement based projects, we worked on finding communities whose active audience was health conscious people and we offered them basic advice to their questions along with promoting the client's product wherever suited to the query of the person. Besides, there are many bloggers you can find which can write a review of your product in exchange of a sample or some money.
Whereas for a recent project which had great images of their recipes and blogpost around the same, I observed that the food image channels and recipe blogs acted as a great source of referral visits. Also, discounts/coupon promotion also worked great for this industry.
I have approached this several ways. A website is a must, most people search online for services before making a decision. I also have a Facebook business page and Instagram. I also attend vendor fairs and sometimes I just show up at places I have been to ( like my doctor's office, the bank, etc..and give out samples-with cards of course). There's not really one sure fire way to create new business but I'm not shy about getting my business name out :)
Yelp and word of mouth seem to be working well for me. I should be doing more, and will come the first of the year, i.e., Facebook ads. Hope this helps
We do the same as many have suggested below. We also utilize a marketing specialist as well to assist with any social media and marketing we need help with. If you want her information just message me and I'll provide it. Cheers
Well, we've tried a few different things and I would say the best one so far has been straight from google. My advice to you would be to get a guy who has a proven track record in consistently being able to get food businesses to the top of google maps.
I do social media specifically facebook Ads and it does help. Also, I try to do in-person events and then pub it through social media to help spread the word and get new customers.
