What is your favorite point of sale software?
Do you have a preference on platform: Apple, Android or PC?
I'm a local independent rap for a merchant services company. I'm currently fairly new to the business but not to the business community and world. I don't have much experience if any with POS systems and I'm looking to learn and get input on what people are using. What do you like what do you dislike? I hope to compile this information to help everyone in the local retail community.

Greetings Richard! I utilize Square on an Apple tablet for point of sale transactions. The majority of my transactions are completed online through Paypal.
I started using quickbooks Online last Spring.
If you are a small business ..."square" is my recommendation
We will consider your services in the future. We have our system in place
I have worked with many company's that have used different CRM systems. The most versatile seems to be Microsoft CRM.
That's a complex question. I love working with NCR Counterpoint, however:
Smaller merchants will likely find all they need in the "one size fits all" category-- I would include Square, Shopkeep, Clover, NCR Silver, Quickbooks POS, etc. in this group, and they are the "cheapest" in this category. As a general rule they are not very customizable or robust.
Often times as a business expands (whether opening multiple locations, online sales, etc.) they start to encounter significant limitations in their retail software. Common examples: multi-location reporting, double-sided accounting distributions, multiple profit centers or distribution centers, desire to integrate other "best in breed" solutions, etc.
More advanced software packages include options like NCR Counterpoint, Cegid Y2, Eagle Epicor, and many others. There are tiers even beyond this for major, vertically integrated retailers as well.
PC synergy
I use Square and love it
Personally I'm partial to the retail POS software we develop and sell through dealers and ISO agents. It's a good fit for hard goods retailers like liquor, gift, clothing, sporting goods, smoke/vape, c-stores, etc. You can learn more at www.capretail.com or drop me a direct note.
Thanks,
Will
NCR Silver has a simplified POS called Quantum. Its offer the same features and benefits at a much lower cost and can allow you to choose your Merchant Processing Company for the most part.
Talech is also another up and coming company with a great POS with lots of back office reporting all from your Tablet, Ipad or Android device.
