What kind of interview questions do you ask applicants?

I am not a fan of the trite interview questions that have been around for 50 years. I feel like people have developed cookie-cutter answers to things like "Where do you see yourself in 5 years?". I'm looking for suggestions on questions to ask that really help you gauge a person's personality, drive, etc. Thank you in advance!

What is th real reason they want to be here?  I think in this day and age you cant get a  long term answer and have to look to fill your positions with the knowledge they are short term

The simplest questions can be the most revealing.

Why do you want to work here?

What do you think we do here?

What is your most important skill or asset?

A person needs goals, passion, ambition. Are these written down? Are they on a vision board? Next part of a plan is now start to take action. Also, developed a daily routine to accomplish the tasks to take you to your goal. Otherwise the " bucket list" stays just a list.

When it comes to something like this, you will true answers and you get some answers that are false. Without
getting really personal, I do not know what question to ask, other than: What has the Lord Jesus Christ done for you?

I like to ask, "what do you like most about yourself?" and What do you like least about yourself?" also who do you admire the most and why?

Sometime checking honesty by questions that are not related to the duties  i.e

if the job is for a retail sales clerk ask the questions have they ever picked cherries..

honesty shows what people are made of

1. What do yo seek with us?

2. If you had 10 minutes to live what would you do?

When I owned a restaurant, I created an application that told me more about a person than the standard data.  Questions like, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" and "What is your favorite animal?" gave me valuable insight to who they were.

What are the words you hope that those who know you would use to describe you?
