Learning value through persistence.

To remain persistent, this is not a new learning experience, but as the economy changes we must learn to adapt to move forward. It is essential to stop, reflect and confirm changes fit with you as a professional and as a person.

When changes are simply unacceptable or conflict with your value and belief system;  it is necessary to remain dedicated to your values and beliefs to ground you. Persevere, stay away from toxic people, especially those who do not realize they are toxic.

For myself, I remain persistent to a balanced benefit for my personal and professional development and growth. Any one-sided relationships are in their nature suspect and generally non-beneficial. So be persistent in finding the right people to work with, you are worth it.

Grace - accepting that problems happen, things go wrong and people sometimes are not a their best.  Giving grace to others.  Remaining calm in a storm.  The many topics in business are challenging - very few things are easy or simple.  The one thing I have learned from experienced, successful entrepreneurs is GRACE.    People often teach us more during times of crisis and problems - I admire the grace, poise, and focus of successful entrepreneurs especially during times of trouble.

Even after spending several hundreds of thousands of dollars on software and processes the best money spent is on people.  No matter whether it is our online customers, our on the phone customers, or our eyeball to eyeball customers business is still about people.  Even when our customers think they don't need a human they are always looking for a "voice" when they have a problem.  I know Amazon, Google, FaceBook strike fear in so many business owners.  But they will never automate the problem-solving portion of business no matter how good AI gets or any new algorithm they create.  It is still people who are buying and they want people who care to be there for them

Your reputation is everything. Even if it means losing a few dollars to make it right with the customer- it's worth it.

Find the right mentors. Surround yourself with those you can help and can help you grow.

2019 has been a year of ups and downs in my extended family.  If anything 2019 has re-taught me to live each day to the fullest, do your best and ensure that you enjoy what you do both professionally and personally.

My biggest thing I learned this year is that you have the power to change the direction of your life at any age.
