My #1 tip for local SEO is to ensure consistent and accurate business information across all online platforms. This includes your business name, address, phone number (NAP), and website URL. Inconsistent or incorrect information can confuse search engines and potential customers, leading to lower search rankings and missed opportunities for local visibility.

To optimize your local SEO efforts:

Claim and Optimize Google My Business (GMB) Listing: Claiming and optimizing your GMB listing is essential for local SEO. Ensure that your business information is accurate and complete, including business hours, categories, description, and photos. Encourage customers to leave reviews and respond to them promptly.

Consistent NAP Information: Ensure that your business name, address, and phone number are consistent across your website, GMB listing, social media profiles, online directories, and any other online platforms where your business is listed.

Local Keywords and Content: Incorporate local keywords and phrases relevant to your business and location throughout your website content, meta descriptions, headings, and image alt tags. Create locally-focused content that addresses the needs and interests of your local audience.

Local Link Building: Build high-quality backlinks from local websites, directories, chambers of commerce, and industry associations. This helps establish credibility and authority for your business within your local community and improves your local search rankings.

Mobile Optimization: Ensure that your website is mobile-friendly and optimized for local searches on mobile devices. Mobile optimization is crucial, as many people use smartphones to search for local businesses while on the go.

Online Reviews and Reputation Management: Encourage satisfied customers to leave positive reviews on platforms like Google, Yelp, and Facebook. Respond to reviews, both positive and negative, in a professional and timely manner. Managing your online reputation can influence potential customers and improve your local search rankings.

Local Citations and Directories: Ensure that your business is listed accurately on local citations and directories relevant to your industry and location. This includes platforms like Yelp, Yellow Pages, Bing Places, and industry-specific directories.

By focusing on these aspects of local SEO and ensuring consistency and accuracy across all online platforms, you can improve your business's visibility in local search results and attract more customers from your target area.

I double down on Jason Moyer's answer. Google My Business is free and the most powerful listing you can use online for a local vendor. NO ONE can SEO your website to show up ahead of a Google My Business Listing. It drops from the top in Search Engine Returns, it DOES NOT COMPETE  for ranking. When I run my GMB courses many say they experience 30% or more (free) traffic from using this listing to its full potential.

Previously commented about Google My Business BUT I will drop a special gem... YOUTUBE. Google purchased YouTube 15 years ago for an astonishing $1.65B. We sometimes forget to realize that YouTube is the "Video World of Google". For example, Local Real Estate Agents should be making YouTube videos about '5 best schools in the area', '5 best places to eat', 'best parks in the area', etc... Not only would that attract local SEO , any potential/future leads who are researching that area could find FIND YOU!

METADATA! A good web designer should be doing this for you when you build your site. We include SEO work on our sites and it works. Your website should be coded with the appropriate meta tags in the section of your HTML code. Title, description and keywords should all be relevant  to the page. Title the page with a keyword phrase thats in your meta tags and use H1 and H2 headings with the same keywords. Your page content should also have those same keywords throughout the page. Google and other search engines read the HTML syntax from top to bottom therefore we as designers should start SEO on the backend from top to bottom. Images titled with the same keywords as the page and use "alt tags" with keywords as well. WordPress and other platforms allow you to do this same thing just not as easy sometimes depending on the platform. Also have as many local listings possible pointing to your website. This is just a start but definitely a must for building SEO optimized web content.

Make sure you have a proper schema set up and keep a close eye on your Google analytics. Utilize SEMrush to watch your competitions ranking and decipher why their growth is either better than yours or worse.  Check also into maybe setting up Google Local Services if you are service oriented.

Optimize Google Business Profile and a website with tons of optimized content.

Best Local SEO results, start by ensuring the Business is Listed on Google's My Business.. or recently.. Google-Maps. Make sure to fill out all the details and add Pictures and video if you have them. Make sure your listed in several categories Google provides for your industry... Make sure to VERIFY the Listing.  Goggle will send a Postcard with a COde to verify. - Next Create a Youtube Channel for the Business,  Google Owns Youtube. Create a Video with the title of the Business's Location and service.. get 25 to 50 people to do a google search for the video, soon.. the video will show up on the first page of Google..also bringing the Google-Business Listing with it.  If everything is done right, you should be able to make it in to the Google 3 Pack. Depending on the competition. - I have managed to get clients in the 3-Pack with in a couple days.  It can be done.  Good Luck!

I'd run a Digital Assessment Report which will point out any deficiencies your website may have.  Google dictates the rules, certain wording is important and your directory listings should all be in order.  There are over 75 directories. Most people don't realize this. Running a "DPA" can be the roadmap you need to get to page 1 organically!    I can run a complimentary DPA  for you is you'd like!
