I'm a still shooter never got into video.

Every film should be unique and scripted in advance. I would say the script represents 50% of the work. Then the actual filming has to be planned. It is a huge adventure, trust me!

Think of a video is a short story. It has several elements: Establish the Scene (Who and Where), The Theme (whats happening), the Conflict (what to fix), then the resolution. Keep in mind these basic parts of telling a story and it will help you find the shots.

Build the important parts first, then fill in the rest. When adding anything in you should always ask if what you're adding aids you in telling the story. If it doesn't then leave it out. No filler. Start rough, then refine. Then refine again. Tye has great advice on story structure. Remember that even changing the order of clips can drastically change a story. Have a goal. Achieve that goal. Have fun. Be open to feedback. Hope that helps
