How We Got Started

I received an honorable discharge from the US Navy in 1999 where I worked on low voltage systems and electronics repairing equipment on a component level. I have been an network engineer since 2000 after receiving a degree in electronics and internetworking. I have supported large and small commercial networks since then working for various employers including a number of large internet service providers, managed service providers, including a short time at Tweeter until the went out of business. My number one focus has always been customer service and excellence in the products I produce. I have managed data centers, provided network support and monitored and proactively monitored a large number of networks using various network monitoring tools. Now I am taking all of that experience and focusing on providing homes with the best network and service that a home owner would expect to keep their internet up and running 24/7 without interruptions or delays.

Ask for references. find out if they carry a brand of hardware you are satisfied with. Ask if they charge for a proposal. Is your home so complicated that you need full blown engineering documents? Set your own expectations and convey them to the company to find out if they can accommodate your requests. Can they finish the job without stopping? A delay in the middle of the job is unacceptable to most people. Do they request money up front, a partial payment or full payment? Do they own the programming in your home (remotes and controls). What is the warranty? Do they have follow up visits that will cost money for things like network upgrades or device upgrades? - Rod from Smart Home Network Services, bringing networking expertise to elite homes.
