Attorney Deborah Mackoy is trained in both mediation and collaborative law and are available to mediate in the counties of Denton, Dallas, and Collin. We explore every opportunity to find successful resolutions to our clients' legal problems through alternative dispute resolution (ADR) methods, including divorce mediation, collaborative law, cooperative divorce practices and skilled negotiations.

How We Got Started

MHJW, LLP began in 2004 with the original partners having come together after serving as associate attorneys together elsewhere. We formed a bond from those early years that few firms have in common. We report someone acting as an attorney without a license to the "Unauthorized practice of Law" committee.  If we believe a licensed attorney is doing something illegal, we have an obligation to report them to the State Bar of Texas. While we are all called upon to "multi task" in our day to day lives, the real truth is that when you multi task you don't give your full attention to anything and run an increased risk of making bad judgment calls or making mistakes.  I am a firm believer of keeping meetings as short as possible... (more) While we are all called upon to "multi task" in our day to day lives, the real truth is that when you multi task you don't give your full attention to anything and run an increased risk of making bad judgment calls or making mistakes.  I am a firm believer of keeping meetings as short as possible and following an agenda so that the meeting stays on track.  Therefore, I feel that cell phones should be turned off - not just silenced - during meetings of 30 minutes or less.  That way you avoid distractions and have everyone's undivided attention.  This should make the meetings more productive and will help keep them short!  All that said - it is a good idea to have a contact for emergencies during such times.

Our IT requirements are paramount! We must save everything (documents produced by clients, all client related documents including all e-mails, photographs, business records, experts reports, etc.) and must be able to access it anywhere (thinking cloud?!) but not completely happy about the... We must save everything (documents produced by clients, all client related documents including all e-mails, photographs, business records, experts reports, etc.) and must be able to access it anywhere (thinking cloud?!) but not completely happy about the speed, consistency or costs of our current system. Would love to hear more about options and what others are doing.
