(more) We must pay significantly higher than $15/hr plus benefits to attract qualified applicants.  So this does not affect us. Beyond that, putting more money into the hands of the lower financial rungs of society immediately puts that money into circulation as these people must use their money to pay landlords, food suppliers, utilities, and so forth. They are not in a position to just buy stocks and bonds, which essentially removes the money from the daily economy.   Low income people don’t eat at restaurants because they cannot afford it. If they bring home more money, they will go to restaurants and other service industry businesses, thereby increasing those sales, which provides the money to pay the $15/hr rate.  Increasing the minimum wage pours water into the harbor to raise all boats.  Also remember that this is not an immediate switch from $7.50 to $25, but a gradual increase over several years.  As the Scottish say, “Dinna fasch.”

(more) While all of the already-offered advice is good, some is more practical than others.  Recent security research has shown, for instance, that forcing people to change passwords on a frequent basis actually results in less-secure passwords, as people will tend to either publish (write somewhere they can get to, which inevitably others will also) good passphrases because they cannot remember them until just before it's time to change them again, or make bad ones so they can remember them from one iteration to the next (eg: mypassword1, mypassword2, etc.).  A better approach, the research found, is to use a secure password management system (LastPass, KeePass, etc) coupled with a complex pass phrase (eg: Kdsf173$#,tG458!#*kHOsWgb) and only change it infrequently--like only when a special event occurs. For wifi, make use of separate guest networks for more-friendly passwords and IoT devices--keep your important computer data systems internal and separate from the guest networks, and preferably on hard-wired connections instead of wifi. As previously stated, use MFA (multi factor authentication) wherever possible.  This alone can turn a bad password into a good one.  The preference here is an MFA app such as Google Authenticator, Duo, or others.  SMS text messages for a 6-digit code to be retyped into the MFA field is not as secure as these special-purpose tools. If your employer offers VPN access, use it.  Keep business physically separate from home computing activity--use an employer-provided laptop, for instance).  If a true VPN is not offered, and the employer agrees, a point-to-point VPN to remotely control your office desktop can be used.  Again, do not use your personal computer to do this, but rather a company-provided one.  Outside of VPN, and in general, only visit secure websites (https:// instead of http://).  Always enable secure connections (SSL, TLS, StartTLS) for email and other purposes. Ensure your computers and IoT devices are kept updated for security and other reasons.  Monitor your firewall and router logs for unusual traffic.  As these requirements are of a more technical nature, make use of a Managed Services Provider (MSP) to stay on top of these requirements.  We can help. (more) I started my business in 2000.  For the next ~15 years, I was a solopreneuer.  Fortunately, I made many friendships in the business, and have been able to lean on a few of them for local work when my wife insisted we take actual vacations.  Over time, I also realized that I can only take my business so far alone.  With that realization, I've begun finding people who are better than I am at various aspects of the business--marketing, sales, specific tech specialties, etc).  Since I am a member of Alignable and other like-minded groups, I've found a community of sharing that actually benefits everyone.  I can farm work out to others and share in the profit.  Likewise, they can farm work out to me for shared profit. Find trusted and talented individuals to help with your workload.  You will likely find they have needs you can supply as well.  Explain to your clients if necessary what's going on.  If sharing information about your medical situation is not advisable--often it is not--say that you are bringing people onboard to maintain your availability, speed, and quality while expanding your capacity.  This is true, understandable, and business-like.  Arrange your personal finances to accommodate the potentially smaller take-home pay you'll experience during this period. You may find as I am finding, that sharing the workload allows you to take your business to the next level, despite your medical challenges. All my best wishes for you and yours....

Bit Defender Gravity Zone.  Consistently in the top 3 on testing sites.  Pricing is reasonable.  Experience shows it protects without false positives (YMMV).  Covers a couple of dozen different types of security items, whereas others like Windows Defender only cover 3 or 4.
