About Us

Gary's Welding Inc. has served Gillette and the surrounding area for over 33 years. We specialize in industrial plant builds and shutdowns, welding, repair, construction, plant piping, aluminum and stainless steel fabrication and repair, and concrete just to name a few things. We have experience in project estimating and bidding of multi-million dollar jobs, and managing projects to completion with as many as 40 or more employees.

How We Got Started

My employer was finishing up a project and I didn't like the prospect of going on unemployment. I knew of former clients that were in need of my welding services, and they were asking me when they could start using me. We felt that it was time to spring for the little bit of equipment I needed to get started and we began business in Aug. 1989. I have had some of these same customers since I started my business, I enjoy working with them and being able to solve some of their most vexing issues.

The doctor came to the house and would put up a sign on your front door warning people if he felt the need for it.  Our house was subject to that once or twice but if we showed no symptoms we could go to school, not everyone got sick.  My wife lost a 3 1/2 year old cousin to the Hong Kong flu of 1957-58 so I think we need to practice good hygiene and be careful out there. My business has been open but my customers have slowed down quite a bit, I remain open and I have work coming up that will keep us busy, but I am not sure about some of my clients.

Check out what realtors in other areas are doing that might peak your interest, new ideas that will help you maybe think 'outside the box'. 17 years, sounds like your just getting to the good part and a 'facelift' of sorts might be in order, ie, paint the office, remodel the outside, new furniture, nothing big but small changes will help redirect your focus, something that will get you excited about coming to work. If you have others in the office, this will give them energy also and they will want to come to work.

We applied, USBank was slow in responding, maybe they were just figuring out the system. I am not really getting many calls, many of my clients were sent to work from their homes and those that are still at the work sites aren't allowing contractors on site because of the spread of the virus. As long as I stay busy I don't mind it, I know this won't last long, most flue seasons burn out by spring time.  It is strange not seeing the traffic on the streets and restaurants closed.

We aren't seeing much of an effect, just the nature of our business. But we are seeing it on a personal level, what it is doing for our families that have to do the shopping. It is crazy out there, but this too will pass. (more) We aren't seeing much of an effect, just the nature of our business. Don't refer someone if you don't know them or have never used their services, it could come back to bite you. When you make a referral, you are putting your name behind that. When I am shopping for that perfect kitchen or bath, I would like to see choices and options that I can touch, and feel the quality because I have to convince myself the purchase is wise. I will pay more for a designer that has experience and can help me with my selection, because I am not a kitchen and bath designer. That being said, I have had to fix or work around areas that were designed by someone that had no experience (they thought they were great at designing until they found out 'not') and I had to make corrections. Just a thought.

We have the occasional walk-in customer with a half hour job(I don't turn them down) up to projects that are $50,000 and greater. We serve the state of Wyoming, Montana, and South Dakota areas. Mount Rushmore is a 2 hour drive and Yellowstone Park is about 5 hrs from here.

It sounds to me like they want someone else to subsidize or pay for their game.  I would let them handle their own expenses because in the end they will be in control and will dictate who gets top billing or more prominent placement.  You, on the other hand are free to continue doing what you are comfortable with, emphasis on 'comfortable'.
