"Would you recommend my services or products to your friends?"  "Why?"   I prefer these types of face-to-face questions rather than any survey. You need to hear their inflections and watch their facial expressions.  Body language can speak volumes. Become one who asks.  Be genuine. At the same time, you need to listen attentively to what they say.  Repeat it back to them to demonstrate your acknowledgement of their answers.  Finally, remember to graciously thank them for taking the time to seriously answer your questions. Have a token gift idea in mind.  I would go so far as to reward them with a special discount for future business or maybe treat them to a favorite coffee drink, tea, or other refreshing beverage, just to build that relationship. This kind of surprise should bring you smiles, a greater business relationship, and most of all, you will know how to better treat that client in the future.   Share with me about your next review!  Let's talk about it!

I can only offer such referrals if I have listened attentively to the one searching for the product or service. I ask clarifying questions to better understand those needs.  I confidently give referrals as often as I can!  By supporting those searching for a product or service, I also support those in business.  It's a WIN-WIN! That's what networking is all about! Let's build our community together!

Networking is whenever you are meeting with others about your business. Whether you realize it or not, folks are making mental notes about you and how you represent yourself, your business, and your customers. Wear a smile, be genuine, and share your passion, and keep networking! (more) Networking is whenever you are meeting with others about your business. However, how often do we present ourselves as professionals of our craft and OFFER to speak at an upcoming engagement? We often have ready our "elevator, 30-second" speech, but do we have a repertoire of speaking topics ready at a moment's notice? What struggles have you overcome in your business? How did you overcome them? What resources did you use? Who was your mentor or reference person when trouble arose? Tell others how you triumphed when a problem surfaced. Include your network of resource people and share the wealth of your knowledge. Have a speech ready at hand, ASK others if they are in need of a speaker, and SHARE more often when networking about your joy of providing this service to others. It won't take long, word will get around, and appointments, too!
