About Us

WCST’s mission is to end the cycle of domestic violence and sexual assault through intervention, prevention, education and safe shelter. We provide victim advocacy, safe shelter, a 24/7 crisis line and more. In 1998 WCST opened the Talsunne House shelter to house up to 12 victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and their children. Each year approximately 100 women and 112 children use our safe shelter.

Prevention is another aspect of WCST’s mission. Our community educators offer school and community support groups and presentations with emphasis on preventing physical, sexual, and emotional abuse. WCST has evolved into one of the community’s most active and respected non-profit organizations.

You have received lots of good information here. Solicit individual donors is the best way to go and implement a monthly giving program.  Also a lot of large corporations with donate money but also in-kind services which do take from your bottom line like advertising, printing, etc.   (more) You have received lots of good information here. I believe they do help to reach different audiences for likes.  Being a nonprofit, it is best to partner with corporate sponsors to sponsor paid ads for us.  A win for us since it is in-kind and a win for businesses because it is a 100% write off to them. This programs sells itself.  I think your narrative above does carry some negative wording.  I would take out "Unlike the popular but proven to be ineffective 12 step programs."  Have you been through these programs yourself?  AA saved my family when I was very young ( 55 years ago) and through that program it gave my parents a footprint to raise their children, myself and my siblings.   These are very important things that you are trying to do.  If it works in your community, they will come.
