There are many studies that show increased asthma and other breathing issue with women who are repeatedly exposed to these chemicals in their work. Women are more than 2 times as likely to become chemically sensitized as men are and this is not an allergic reaction. It is actually a change in the body where the body develops a receptor and every time the person is exposed their body reacts. This is why ventilation is so important. In our country, the minimum standard is to change the air once every 3 hours. Studies on health and performance in schools and the work place show measurable benefits up to an air change every hour. Yet most of our buildings get no where near these rates. Homes are even worse. As we've increase energy efficiencies in our homes, we are paying a high price on the health side of the equation. A very high price!! And contractors and municipalities/States that select codes largely leave out ventilation. Critical mistake.
