About Us

Putnam County CERT- under the direction of Chief Sarah Owen, currently has 12 active units managed by 4 Deputy Chiefs.
PJ Paul- Administration, EOC Management , and Communications.
Thomas Carter- Transportation, Search and Rescue, and Fire and Haz-Mat.
Jack Smith- Public Health/ Medical, Public Safety, Public Engagement.
Jeff Wonser - Sheltering, and Property Damage Assessment., Outreach/Recruiting, .
CERT operates under the authority of the Department of Homeland Security but is locally directed, and self-funded. CERT is completely staffed by your friends and neighbors.

How We Got Started

PC CERT was formed in 2012 as a backup organization for the First Responder agencies. We serve Putnam County by providing a highly trained core of volunteers in times of disaster. We also provide community support for events as well as emergency communications.
