For example, licenses and insurance, years in business, referrals and any other key information you would use to determine if it's a company you would like to do business with. Based on the answers and information submitted you can then weed out those you would consider vs those you would not. Keep a file for those who you would want to get a proposal or quote from if you have a future need and then just notify them when that time comes.

(more) I spent over 6 yrs working for insurance brokers and investment advisors as their outsourced business development; meaning I qualified and scheduled appointments for my clients to meet with the key decision or decision makers for an opportunity to close new accounts. Here are a few tips and that might be helpful to you when making calls.... 1. Take a few minutes to research the company. 2. Ask for help? Most of us regardless of job position, role and duties want to be helpful; especially when asked for help. 3. Cater your message or introduction to the person you are reaching out to. For example, what I'd say to an owner would be very different than that of an HR Manager. Why? Simply because they have very different responsibilities and areas of interest. For example; HR in most cases find benefits and insurance to be a pain in the behind because of the administration, education and enrollments, however, a business owner cares about costs and coverage. 4. Remember that no doesn't always means they aren't interested and more times than not what they really mean is not right now, so it's important to find out when. Try something like this..... Okay I understand, let me ask you is there as specific time of year that you look at this, review or compare apples to apples? 5. Get yourself a good CRM such as Salesforce or Zoho to keep track of all your leads, notes and set reminders etc.

(more) There are ton's of ways you could go about getting more reviews on Google+ or other like Yelp, etc but we have found the most effective way of helping our clients with this is by taking a 3 prong approach. First, we gather all the reviews posted online about you or your company, compile and evaluate. This is helps us and our clients to have a better understanding of what the real issues are and put together a plan to address them. For example if there are 10 reviews, 7 of which are 3 stars or less that talk about how great the food was, but that there was a mess left behind then it allows the business owner to address this issue. Next we use a few methods to market for more reviews including a customized URL to send their clients/customers too or can even be pulled up by a staff member on their mobile device and handed to their client/customer at the time of sale/service. This page is more like a form that asks for basic contact info including phone and email. Once completed and given permission to contact via email and text the client/customer will get an email or text asking if they would give you a 5 star review. If they say yes, they will be give the option of clicking a link that takes them to the review page our client wants to promote making the process very easy and simple. If they say no they would not give a 5 star review they are directed to another page that asks them to provide some details as to what the issue is and that a staff member will be reaching out to them directly to attempt to correct or fix the problem. By allowing upset customers to vent and giving them a platform in which to do it reduces the chances of them going online and bashing you. And by asking for recommendations while it's fresh on the client/customers mind and making the process easier for them to do so it increases the chances of getting more positive reviews published online. Then the last and final step is to promote those positive reviews. One way of which we do so is by adding those positive reviews to a review/testimonials page on the website along with others. Now of course most business owners aren't going to be able to do this themselves, however, if you are already spending money in an effort to get more reviews and it's not working it's a good idea to redirect the investment into something else and see if you get better results.

(more) This is a great question and I'm surprised more SEO consultants haven't responded and here's my take on the matter. First, of all the odds of every small to medium sized business to all be on the first page of Google at the same time is next to impossible. This is mainly due to the fact that there are typically way more businesses, both big and small who are competing to get in front of the same audience online than there are spaces on the first page of Google. Furthermore, it's my opinion that what you pay for SEO services isn't important as it is that you are working with an SEO consultant that understands what will work for you. One who will not only invest the time into researching, but one that will take the time to get to know you, your company, your services and your goals and objectives. Having this insight is critical to developing a strategic online marketing plan custom tailored just for you because SEO isn't and shouldn't be a one-size-fits-all solution.

I've personally been an active member of this online community for many years now and overall the information provided has been the most accurate and up to date information that I have been about to find; plus it's free. Here's a quick rundown of how it works. Sign up here https://connect.data.com/registration/signup?sulnk=1. Select the FREE Give 1, Get 1 option and create your account. It works on a point system and pretty much like it sounds, you give 1 and you get 1. You can either add, update or delete contacts to start racking up points. Once you have enough points (which doesn't take as long as you would think) you can create and export lists or if you are looking for a contact at a company you can purchase a single contact and get their name, email, phone, direct line and even see the last time it was updated by another member. If you are looking for a quick email list you can also purchase a list as well.

(more) Ken, it's a known fact that not having a solid marketing budget can cause businesses to overspend on marketing and really hurt revenues. However, most small to mid-size businesses find it difficult to even determine what their marketing budget should be. Then when considering all the marketing channels out there; how to spend it effectively. Here's a sort of how to or DIY guide that you may find helpful. First thing first, you will need to figure out the "reliable" monthly revenue for your business. Reliable revenue is the minimum amount of money a business makes, so only use what is reliable revenue. Do not include potential or possible revenue that may not come through. 1. Add all your reliable revenue together. 2. Divide by 12. Your total is your monthly revenue. Next you will need to figure out what your monthly business expenses are. This should include anything it costs to keep your business running on a monthly basis from rent, utilities, supplies, materials, uniforms to labor or paying employees, insurances, etc minus any marketing expenses you are currently paying. 1. Add all your monthly business expenses together. 2. Divide by 12. Your total is your monthly business expenses. Now that you know exactly what your monthly reliable revenue and your monthly business expenses are, you will need to determine what your actual disposable income is. 1. Subtract your monthly business expenses from your monthly reliable revenue. Your total is your monthly disposable income. Next, you will need to figure out how much of your disposable income should be spent on marketing and this can be very tricky. Some experts say 10% and some say 50% and everything between. When trying to figure this out for your business ask yourself 1 simple questions. 1. How many years have I been in business? If your answer is anywhere over 7 yrs, then you likely have a known presence and don't necessarily need to be as aggressive to get seen or noticed by your potential clients as a newer business; that is unless you are in an extremely competitive market or looking to build your brand and expand into a new market. You would likely be alright to invest closer to the 10-20%. However, if you answer is under 7 yrs, then you will most definitely need to be more agressive and invest more. At least 20-30%. The last and equally important thing businesses need after setting their marketing budget is where and how to invest it to get the best results. There are so many different marketing channels availble this can be one of the most difficult pieces of an over budget for most businesses. However, there is no dening the effectiveness of online marketing and in my option this should be the first at every business's marketing list. Allocating 40-50% of your business' marketing budget to online marketing could include an updated website, a mobile friendly site, social media, Google AdWords, online directories to email marketing campaigns or electronic press releases to blogs and video marketing. Regardless of how your target market or ideal customer is you can be certain that they can be found searching and researching online somewhere.

(more) Dorris as an online marketing firm I work with businesses daily who've experienced the same issue as you and to be honest there is no one single answer as to why you're not showing for the search phrases you are trying. However, here are some of the most common things I typically see that might help you. * If you have changed domains, phone numbers, addresses, etc often times we find old or conflicting information listed in online business directories and/or profile pages. Although this can be a very time consuming process you can actually fix this yourself by searching for your business in places like Yelp, Bing, Google+, Facebook, etc. If you have a listing be sure to claim it, then optimize as much as possible with a full description, business hours, logo and link them back to your site. * No keyword research was conducted to develop what is commonly referred to as your keyword cloud. It's important to keep in mind that sometimes a single keyword can be much harder to rank for if it is very specific or if you are in a very competitive market, so try to include some 2-4 word phrases. * Lack of keyword rich (not keyword stuffed) content that is written in a conversational tone, that is informative, helpful and engaging. A good rule of thumb to follow when writing content for your web pages is to focus on one or two keywords per page and DO NOT make the mistake of ranting on about how great you are. Generally speaking most people don't care about how great you are they care about how you can help or benefit them in some way. * Missing On-Page SEO such as individual page titles that are unique and include the keyword the page is focusing on. Others we commonly see are missing or duplicate meta descriptions and images that are missing alt tags. Again, there could be many different reasons and it's probably a good idea to talk with a good reputable SEO consultant that is independent. In most cases, a good SEO consultant will offer to audit your site, your overall online presence and a free consultation. I hope you and others have found this helpful and please reach out to me directly if you would like to know more. I'm always happy to help.
