WHAT'S UP WITH CA HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE?

It's a real pain now. Here's the general run down.

People who have a policy can normally keep it - IF they make their

payment in advance, and don't have claims.

People who's policies are cancelled can expect trouble finding a

replacement. Many insurers are closed to new business, and manyothers have tightened up the in take requirements.

New home buyers may have serious trouble securing a policy to

close escrow.

The WHY of this crisis really doesn't matter as much as the HOW.

The CA Dept. of Insurance did not take the necessary steps in 2019 and forward to meet changing market conditions. Insurers have the CDI's attention now, and we expect the State will get this

crisis under control before the end of summer, but no one knows.
