However satisfying the customer is more important. Yes there are a lot of newby's and I help a lot of these along. We were once new to the industry, and our work was sub quality too. So in these days of cell phones and instant photos we have to ask each customer what it is they would like. We all know about uncle Johnny or brother Bill shooting the wedding, and the results there of. So each customer ask what they want. It's up to us as photographers to deliver according to our ability, giving quality, price and lasting images. I am rewarded when I see couples of weddings I shot 35 years ago requesting my service now, for their kids and family.  So give people what want.

Most Business owners cannot take great images of their business. To break the ice take some images of the exterior of their establishment and show them how well they can look. Offer to take additional images showing perhaps the interior of their store or product. You have broken the ice! (more) Most Business owners cannot take great images of their business. In most cases this is the preferred way to better understand what image is to be captured. However  clear perimeters of the shoot can be discussed on the phone and set up in advance. Clearly having rapport before the shoot will give the best results. (more) In most cases this is the preferred way to better understand what image is to be captured. You will fail, how you deal with it, is your future. Simple Try, Try, then try some more and learn from your failures. (more) You will fail, how you deal with it, is your future. Simple Try, Try, then try some more and learn from your failures.

First couples are interested in their plans. By asking questions and showing interest in them how they see their event unfolding. Rather than a pitch you should just converse with your customers find common ground. They will tell you what they want. That's what you give them. Not a pitch.
