I would say for us it's employees. Finding good ones that stay for the long haul. Also, Since there's so much construction in our area new landscape businesses have popped up everywhere so competition has really increased. Staying competitive can be difficult with the rising cost of materials, insurance & Bonding which we then have to pass along to the client in the form of an increased cost on the bid, which can cause us to loose the bid.

Competition is fierce. There used to be only 3 major landscaping and lawncare companies near where I grew up. Now there every size and color company you'd want to work with. Maybe about 20 within a 20 mile radius. Both customers and employees have their pick of where they want to go making it harder to retain the best employees. How have you seen this problem solved?
Yes! It's like that here too. We've been in business for 22 years. But I see loads of trucks out there, wrapped with fancy signs and brand new Landscape Contractors numbers. There are also, a lot of 'illegal' landscaping companies that don't have to pay for a bond, insurance, workman's comp, payroll taxes, licensing fees etc. So they can undercut us by quite a bit. It's like being punished for doing things the right way.
