Fortunately, I've had a good number of clients from Upwork and occasionally get contacted for potential work even when I've been away from it for a bit. However, I've had better luck with word of mouth and even LinkedIn for better paying projects.

Fortunately, I've had a good number of clients from Upwork and occasionally get contacted for potential work even when I've been away from it for a bit. However, I've had better luck with word of mouth and even LinkedIn for better paying projects.
Upwork and other platforms like it are good for supplemental income or gaining experience but are not a great long term source as the rates are often lower paying and higher paying projects are super competitive. Meaning the lowest priced freelancer bid often wins.
Having a website is great for showcasing portfolio work and is easier on potential clients to see your work and share your site with others.
