About Us

I am looking to work with Realtors who know the value of having professional photography for marketing their properties.

I photograph homes that are being readied for sale, working closely and collaboratively with the Realtor to not only get the shots they request, but to also show the property in its best possible light. I like to present photos that show not just a "house for sale", but as a home a buyer will want to move into, taking the extra time to showcase the little things that "make a house a home".

My background as a photojournalist and landscape photographer serves to help tell the story about the property for sale.

Because time is of the essence in the highly competitive real estate business, I provide web ready images usually with no later than a 48 hours turn around, often times faster, depending on current workload.

How We Got Started

I was asked to photograph a home in the Oakland hills by a Realtor who knew of my landscape, restaurant and food photography from articles she read in a magazine in the Tri Valley area. I accepted the offer, and I found the unique views, quality of light, and challenge to capture a mid-century home something that I found a natural fit to everything I was drawn to photograph.

Based on photos of that first home, other Realtors started contacting me. A match made in heaven. I now have the joy of doing what I love; finding and capturing beauty, and serving others.

As a real estate photographer I've thought about helping agents with their photos, should they wish to take their own, when they don't want to hire a professional like myself take the photos for them. It pains me to see bad photography, and honestly it is a puzzle, in these times of online advertising, that anyone could think they are offering good customer service if their ads don't present their clients' best interest with good photos. It is also a great marketing tool for their own business, since new clients often pick someone to work with whose ads they saw and liked. I work with a Realtor who wanted to take her own photos, and had even bought a good camera. The first time I worked with her, was when she had a rush job to get a home on the market, so didn't have time to use her new camera and take the photos. I was referred to her by another Realtor. When we met at the home, she had a clear vision of how she wanted the photos to look, and emphasized wanting views through the windows. If she had taken the photos herself, I doubt she would have gotten those views through the windows, as that is actually a difficult challenge; how to control the views through windows, both to show off the view, but also minimize views you don't want to show. The house had challenges; rooms that were very dark, while others had too much light flooding in from a lack of curtains. I was able to take the photos that expressed her vision; both because I listen closely, I love to serve others and support their success, and I have the skill set necessary to create those images. The end result? She put her camera away, and I have been photographing for her ever since.... What is the take away from my little story, relative to the original question? That the skill set for good photos is very different than those for being a good agent, and that the time needed to actually take good photos includes learning the software skills that bring out the best in the photo, which is more than pressing a few keys and magically transforming a mobile phone photo into an attractive image that will grab the attention of speed shopping home buyers. I often toyed with offering instruction on how to take those good photos, but then I realized that Realtors should focus on what they do best and let someone like me do what I do best, which is to create those wonderful images they need to help make them highly competitive and successful.

That's easy! I make my clients my priority when I have a property to photograph for them. I clear the decks and don't stop working with them on the photos until they are happy that I got the shots they need. I consider myself a part of their team and I make it my goal to make their properties... (more) That's easy! I make my clients my priority when I have a property to photograph for them.
