Listen, listen, listen.  Make person feel that you care more about them than yourself.  Comment on things they show interest in, ask questions.  Limit conversation about yourself to answering questions briefly and honestly.  Find point to agree on.  Remember, you are not selling, you are engineering an agreement.  The more you agree with a person the more they will agree with you.  Find points to agree on that move the objevie forward.
