Hi, I’m Sam! I started Freckled Heron Studios to share unique and contemporary floral designs with my local community, businesses, and fellow human beings around the world. With a background in sustainable farming, I choose to grow my own flowers or source from other local farmers rooted in ethical and organic use of the land. I honor my medium by using sustainable floral design practices only - nothing single use, artificial, or harmful to the earth.

Since childhood, I’ve been picking flowers to experiment with different arrangement and sculptural techniques to showcase their beauty in new ways. Following a string of market farming internships, I (not so surprisingly) found myself taking a particular liking to flower and herb farming. Living in the post-pandemic world, I couldn’t help but notice how disconnected we are as a society…with nature, ourselves, and each other. This is why I prioritize designing for gatherings, celebrations, and events; because community and culture are made through the connection that happens at them. The beauty of flowers is something everyone has experienced at least once and been better for; so my design is intended to be a reminder to all that we have everything we need - nature and each other.
