In Georgia, anything he wants. In the north they struggle because the ground freezes so deep that all that's left to do is plow snow or Christmas lights. In the south we have been successful in keeping the business going all year, with the occasional snow day here and there. Contrary to popular belief, most of your plants can be installed all winter since the ground does not freeze much if at all. Remember most of the plants are asleep and won't have the typical transplant shock they have in the spring and summer months. They simply wake up not knowing they were transplanted. The evergreens need some watering as they are not totally dormant, but usually not much as it is cool and typically the soil doesn't dry out much. Educating your customer base on this is more difficult since they typically don't think of landscaping until the warmth returns but explaining this to them helps a lot. Hardscapes are always easy to do this time of year as well. It took me a few years to educate my clients and now a simple explanation is all that's needed. Then it's just about dodging the weather. Good luck

Make sure that your estimates are detailed and explain the process. This is part of the communication process. Do not hide information by excluding. Be honest and up front and educate your customers on how the project should be done. This will give to an edge over the competitor who only offers a lump sum price. It also will save you many questions from the customer after they receive your estimate. Get your certifications for all that you do because it tells customers that you are serious and responsible. The comments listed above are necessary too. Grow slow but grow healthy. There is no need to get big fast, steady growth is easier to handle while keeping your quality high
