About Us

Snack Food Pros Since Before Zip Codes!

Great Western’s roots run deep and long within the concessions industry with over 50 years’ experience in providing high quality concession products. Over the years our operations have grown to include our corporate headquarters in Northeast Alabama and our primary packaging operation located in the heart of the mid-west Corn Belt.

While our heritage was built upon popcorn and popcorn related products, we have grown to include other fun foods such as snow cone syrups, floss sugars (cotton candy), seasoning for popcorn, and finally flavored infused toppings in many flavors. Our Corporate offices in Northeast Alabama are also home to our cleaning and janitorial supply facility as well as our import division. Lastly, we are a premiere master distributor for most concession equipment manufacturers and have the talent on staff to provide concession design. Our fully integrated IT support systems will allow transactional relationships in all forms including EDI, Ecommerce, as well as more traditional methods.

From our facilities in AL and IL we are able to support the largest theatre circuits in the world. In addition, through our worldwide distribution network we are currently providing products to Canada, Caribbean, Asia, Europe, and South America, both in branded and private label products. Contact us today for a program suited for your specific needs.

Having now taken the chair, I can say I understand what he was talking about as there always seems to be someone that needs direction to keep the progress flowing smoothly.  More times than not burnout (or flameout) results in something going wrong and causing the employee to feel they have failed in some aspect of their responsibilities.  These type employees are likely to be those that take on more responsibilities than their job requires.  Great workers, but nevertheless, high stress will eventually manifest itself and then burnout.  I feel that as the person in charge, it is my job to run ahead of the team to help break down those barriers that will keep the team from being successful so first of all, did I miss something that landed in this employees lap? If not, then bringing the focus of the employee back to the basics of the job they were hired to do will normally lessen a lot of the stress and bring joy (or a sense of satisfaction) back to the employee.  I would bet 80% of the time, you are dealing with an employee that has failed at "protecting" their boss and they are taking on the blame (in their minds) and by placing the responsibility in the correct place (their boss or myself), smooths it out and shows the employee you have their best interest at heart.

I believe it is a combination of things but mainly the will of the owner AND whether the time is right to sell. The owner might not be ready to retire but if the time is near (3-5 years) and the market is right, sell it for the best price while it is available. UPS is by far the better of the two. If you ship numerous cases on a regular basis, UPS can enable you to save big bucks on the published rates, much like tarrifs are used with LTL shipments. Leverage your volume. (more) UPS is by far the better of the two.
