Business has increased but unfortunately we cannot get any help and so although we could put more heads in beds we need for staff to full fill this properly and at the moment we cannot find housekeepers, laundry staff or part time maintenance.

To be honest I am giving more support to those I can reach virtually whether in my own community, my guests of many years or families in need. There is only so many hours in a day and life has become complicated due to COVID and many more people need moral support as much as financial support.

The Manta Ray Inn anticipates at least a 40% drop in occupancy over the high season for us which is December 15 to April 15. We are reaching out to our guests through social media and also personally through emails and are starting a newsletter to let our guests know what is happening in Hollywood. We have taken the Safe and Clean Pledge from the County and the City of Hollywood and are marketing it along with the safety measures that we always have had in place and how we have improved on those cleaning methods. Reminding our guests that we have full apartments and so they can cook In and they are socially distanced from others as we have a very large lawn and patio area! Being directly on the ocean they have everything they need right here and they can have their groceries delivered if they would like. We are open to other suggestions.

With little funding left and having to reduce rates to get people in the door we will not be able to hold on much longer. Guests expect better rates, below our brea even point and expect more attention.

Applied for the $50,000 dollar bridge load as soon as it came out and sent it UPS but I was not even acknowledge that they received it which they did according to tracking. That was the week of March 18. I tried to apply for the pay program starting with my bank SunTrust and they kept telling me to wait that it had not all be ironed out. I requested help from the lender Suntrist by phone and on line with no response as they said they were backed up and be patient. Now everywhere is out of money and our business has lost approximately $95,000 dollars. There is no income coming into our business only refunds going out. There is no help for the small Inns. The state shut us down and our employees are hourly employees which we are trying to help with our own food. No where to turn. The government as let us down again.
Our little inn, The Manta Ray Inn, on the south part of Hollywood Beach ocean front has been closed now for several weeks and we will be closed down until at least April 30. It is sad to have to tell great workers to go home. So to let you know we have had no income in three weeks. We do try...

As a small hotelier it makes sense to adjust pricing for future stays and gift cards would be an excellent way to get some much needed cash now as we have no guests in our 11 suite oceanfront property but it still will not be enough to help or hourly workers who are at home being safe but not getting help from the agency that we get them through. How can we help them survive this crisis and still pay our monthly bills?
A go fund me page was suggested to me by one of our guests to help the housekeepers. Is this an appropriate thing to do as a small hotelier?
