I am a travel agent and as such have taken multiple cruises. I did 4 trans Atlantic sailings before high school. It is important for travel agents to know, understand and appreciate all the aspects and benefits of cruises to properly inform and support their clients. Most clients I find are happy that I work for "free". and keep coming back to me and referring their friends. Every once in a while a client will come with exaggerated questions and demands, unreasonable expectations and a lot of tire kicking but no move to buy. When that happens, I would rather turn that client away and let him/her tie up a competitor.

For the real adventure seeker, an African Safari. What it boils down to is knowing your client. What have they done? What do they visualize doing? What are their realistic capabilities?

If I were faced with that situation, I would change my payment terms and make it absolutely clear on the invoice: Net if paid by date; 20 % late fee for payments after that date. Make sure your client understands that going in. You set the date and percentage. If the client doesn't agree, you don't need him/her.
