I will leave them with my cards only if asked to do so.

For my business, I do not send postcards to the homes of my customers. I do not want to 'out' anyone as a gun owner. For their safety, I feel that information should remain private.
I send my postcards to related businesses and agencies to garner more referrals. This approach has worked well for me.
LOL. There were so many hats to wear and so may functions to master. Of all the tasks before me, I was in mortal fear of the cash register.

Prior to opening a shop, I had spent 30 years handling large transactions for my real estate clients. But that 'money' was all on paper. Ringing up sales and balancing the till at the end of the day were long forgotten skills.

Facebook and several other venues have very limited use for my business. I sell gun purses, holsters and concealed weapon accessories, but no guns. However, when I use words like gun, pistol, or firearm to describe the purpose of my goods, I often trigger sensors. Same goes for some classified sites such as Craigslist.org. I do work with some industry specific forums and classified ad sites, but many are poorly populated. Some of my favorite sites that were very inclusive and productive for us have gone out of business. It is a constant effort to find appropriate social media venues.
