Raising the minimum wage has never worked in the history of minimum wage. It may work in the short term, but then inflation increases rapidly to match and small businesses start replacing workers with outsourcing and machine technology. They did this in Seattle and look what happened there.
Raising the wage of tipped workers to match minimum wage is just plain stupid. A good tipped worker usually makes over 3 times their wage because they work hard to earn those tips. This also applies to food delivery services where employees use their own vehicles.
This will cause the restaurants and food delivery services such as pizza delivery to reduce employees, raise delivery fees (which weren't a thing until they raised the minimum wage of tipped workers last time), and ultimately longer delivery times.
I read in some of these comments where proponents of this are stating that where individual companies have made the move themselves, it's positive because the workers work harder and take more pride in their job. That's because that company pays better than the companies around it, not because of the specific amount they pay. Once you force all companies around it to do the same thing, that company is no longer the top of the chain and workers will go back to being lazy and unproductive because they know that the burger place down the street will pay them the same.
Finally, as a small business owner myself, this won't have a direct impact on my business because I don't have any direct employees. We are a family run business and we outsource many of the smaller tasks. It will, however, have an indirect impact though as it will make sales a little harder.
We are a business to business marketing and growth company and we depend on sales to other businesses. This relies on those businesses' marketing budgets (if they have one). Raising the minimum wage around the country is going to directly impact many of the types of businesses we target which will reduce other budgets, like marketing.

Simple: Under promise and over deliver! Also, giving tons of value prior to a sale is quite impressive to many customers as well.
