Killing the virus and making sure it has NO HOSTS is the most important thing right now. Some people may not experience any symptoms, but they are carriers (hosts) of the virus, taking it to other people (hosts). That's how it spreads. Scientists indicate that the more people have the virus, the more likely the virus will MUTATE, and will be harder to kill because the "mutated" virus will have "new hosts." After Covid-19 is under control in the world, the world will be back to business as usual. That means everyone must be vaccinated regardless of whether they have symptoms or not. The impact of widespread vaccination would mean increased sales for all types of businesses, including mine.
Vaccination and financial relief are of equal importance at this time. I never sought a PPP Loan because I always keep my liabilities as low as possible. The only way I would seek a loan of any type is if I had the cashflow to repay a loan quickly. A loan could be used to increase cash flow for essential businesses providing food, healthcare, childcare, etc., but typical retail and mom and pop businesses will continue to hurt financially until the virus is eliminated.
With that being said, a PPP Loan could help any business to survive and be ready to re-open at the right time. To reiterate, total vaccination and PPP Loans are essential at this time because small businesses CAN become large businesses that hire people - which helps the economy.

Due to the pandemic, people went into survival mode. So people are not buying like they used to. They may never get back into buying and spending like before. So you may not be able to bring ALL employees back.

Due to the pandemic, people went into survival mode. So people are not buying like they used to. They may never get back into buying and spending like before. So you may not be able to bring ALL employees back.
Businesses must use their cash flow projection as a tool to determine how many employees they can afford right now. Some businesses only require one person, but in this period wh.en cash flow is "iffy," you have to be careful.
Notify employees that you plan to call them back, but try to work within the money that may come in. List the essential workers that must return immediately and give them a date to return. If the ones you consider essential do not return at that time, then call them to talk about it. If they have another job somewhere else, and can give you some part-time work, you have to work them into shifts as needed. If business is booming again, offer essential workers a raise, then a bonus if business is doing well at the end of the year. Wish them well and let them know you want them to come back. So if things don't work out on that new job, they may consider coming back to you. Make it worth their time.
Make it an opportunity to start some new business activities that recognizes key employees, because they are really essential. Marketing will be an expense you must have in place to let the public know you are open for business. It would be great to use some of the government money you received to launch a new marketing campaign to get your customer base back.

My constituents email or message me to find out any news and I forward information that may have been sent to me. I had assumed a while back that people were being served by the entities set up to serve them, but it hit me hard that if people no longer need help, those people would be out of a job.
So many of my clients have indicated that my help is needed on a much larger realm. I've learned that it's up to the individual to do what they've been told. It's not my fault if they don't do it. It warms my heart when someone tells me they followed my advice and it worked for them. However, everyone's situation, status, understanding and comprehension is not the same. For example: I can say, the sky is overcast, you need to take an umbrella with you today. Radical huh? Some would answer, "Okay, I will take my umbrella." Others may say, "The sky looks good to me." Then I would say, "Okay." Another person may say, "I don't have an umbrella." So I learned that it's only about 25 to 30% of the people (business owners) I can really help.
On the other hand, with technology, I'm learning how to get information out there so the pie is larger and the 25-30% is larger. Did you catch that? In addition, I'm refocusing on youth - our future. I really think that's where I'm needed most because parenting is not parenting any more. Life is not fair, there is no free lunch, and recovery is all about change.

You have to return calls and emails at some time of the day, so make time for it, and reach out to people you haven't heard from in a while. They will appreciate that you were thinking of them.
Reaching out on birthdays and anniversaries are great on social media, but a personalized card will be placed in a place of honor in a customer's home or business. Honestly, I do generic cards and write birthday, anniversary, new location and new service information into the message. New clients find me when I do a combination of social media, greeting cards, and issue cards when I meet new people, because I ask people to refer others to me.
