His view was 'a general who has to fight a battle is a bad general.' I resisted reading it because it was about war. After continually hearing about it I finally broke down and read it. Much to my surprise while it speaks of battle it is the gold standard guide about negotiations, business, and relationships in general. Substitute competition for enemy in the following quote -  "If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle." ― Sun Tzu One of the first things I do when working with new clients, especially startups, is have them research the competition.  Interesting tidbit- years ago,  working with the branding consultant I recommended,  a client was doing several things everyone in the industry was doing/offering as part of their service. It was so routine no one talked about it as a feature. My branding guy suggested giving those things a name and making them a product. They did. Their sales exploded so much they had to increase staff to keep up with the new business. Would never have happened without researching competition

Setting realistic personal and business goals and objectives. Taking advantage of COVID Relief programs. Advising clients and providing the means for clients and others to take advantage of Round 2- PPP, etc. Adding services and products to help businesses not only continue to survive but grow and prosper in 2021 since the latest relief bill is, for all practical purposes, too little too late. You should contact your lender. If you weren't included in the calculation for your loan you most likely cannot. You can pay your employee during the period for the loan. Failure to follow the rules could make part or all of your loan payable and not forgivable (more) You should contact your lender.
