About Us

Excel Body Works, Inc. is a third generation family-owned and operated collision repair shop in Jacksonville, NC. Since opening over 60 years ago, we’ve treated every customer like they were a part of our family. Other companies may offer similar services, but our services come with a personal touch.

How We Got Started

Excel Glass & Radiator was established in 1958 by Bruce Herbert Rouse Sr. of Jacksonville. In 1962, the name was changed to Excel Body Works, Inc. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, Charles "Chuck" Kay Sr, started employment with Excel Body Works, Inc. and later, joined Mr. Rouse as partner in the business. Shortly after, Mr. Rouse left the company and Mr. Kay became sole owner. Kay's son, Charles Kay Jr. was raised around the automotive industry and learned the ropes at an early age. He was the only one of Kay's five children to show interest in the business. Charles started off doing little things, then moved up to the larger tasks such as pulling frames and driving wreckers. On May 28, 1997, Chuck passes away, leaving the business to his son Charles. The business remains in the Kay family, as a third generation shop, with Charles and his wife Brenda's three adult children, Whitney, Branden and John, actively working within the company.

Read more "15 years ago, we built our new building and B&B Communications did the wiring for the entire new building. A few months ago, I switched from Time Warner Cable to Century Link and they came out here in awesome timing to help with those configurations. While they were here, I asked about updating our surveillance system. They gave me an estimate and I went ahead and made an appointment with them. Today, they came out to get everything done. Not only is the equipment great, but so is their customer service, and their technicians. I’m so excited to have our new system. Should I need anything else, they will continue to be my own phone call. They have given us nothing but the best service over the last 15 years and we appreciate everything. Thanks again guys!"

We also buy a ton of food plates like bbq, chicken, and fish from fundraisers raising money for good causes. We don't always have a lot to give but we try to do what we can.

Contacts. Yes, contracts are good but getting contacts is just as important. You want to make an impression on someone so when they are in need of your services, products, etc. they are already know where to go. (more) Contacts.
