do they understand your business - every business is unique and bookkeeping should be customized, even though the basic rules apply to all
do they understand the basics of financial statements and can they explain them to you
are they organized
do they understand payroll rules & regulations (if applicable)
do they have a good understanding of government remittances and deadlines
how can they help you achieve your goals
You will probably pay more for a better bookkeeper and never hire a friend, even if they are a bookkeeper.
I usually take about 10. I try to collect more cards than I give out. This way I can follow up as I have their contact info.
