The best advice is if your advertising and business methods aren’t working then instead of seeking outward advice you need to take additional steps yourself. Get out and shake the bushes and drum up some work.

Now that I’m not running a crew or working on one I’m learning to relax more and enjoying the time off. This time of the year I’m extremely thankful for all the people in my life and what I’ve accomplished for the last several years.

I became a licensed contractor for a number of reasons. I had worked for afew companies before I got licensed and gained experience and saw a lot of some good and some bad practices. For myself when I did the lath and plaster on a house I did it as if it were my house only doing the quality work...

The customers were also considered friends or neighbors.Word and mouth is the best advertising.
I preferred the mom and pop type business rather than the large conglomerates. In Wisconsin back in the 50s and 60s there were cheese and sausage shops that were small and very good. They were put out of business by large business like a Kraft and new regulations started that also ended the...

Actually I don’t want clients coming back month after month. I’m a contractor who wants to do the job right the first time and of course I have a two year guarantee and I honor that but I really don’t feel a need to come back once the job is completed.
