So I prefer the logo mark of #1, but the logo type of #2. The serifs in #1 are classic, but they are not the most scalable meaning they won't look as good at smaller application (web/mobile/promotional materials). The second will read from further and has a bit more of a modern and stronger...

So I prefer the logo mark of #1, but the logo type of #2. The serifs in #1 are classic, but they are not the most scalable meaning they won't look as good at smaller application (web/mobile/promotional materials). The second will read from further and has a bit more of a modern and stronger presence. But the mark in #1 is stronger. It has more motion and resembles a check mark (has a relationship with a signature or personal mark). The stairs are a bit static and I don't see the symbolism as much.
