I would suggest developing a Capabilities Statement and keeping several of these on your person at all times. This speaks more to you service offering as opposed to a job seeker, which is the function of a resume

My primary motive was to gain greater work life balance. I don't even consider failure because then it becomes a possibility. I only think positively. Besides success or failure is defined by your own terms and standards. For example, I may achieve the work life balance I set out to achieve, thus my venture is a success. However, if I do not earned as much money as I did previously, only I can still determine if I am successful by my own standards.
It depends on the nature of the openings. There are some sites specifically geared for IT positions for example, whereas others may be more favorable towards engineering, and yet others may be more useful for administrative roles.

Self marketing- word of mouth, LinkedIn, Alignable. All seem to be working equally as well, but networking by attending functions that host your target audience seem to typically work better.
