About Us

Being an entrepreneur is about freedom. It’s about creating something that gives you more time, more money, and freedom! It's also about leaving a legacy.

As an accountant and a business consultant, I am reminded every day that the reality for most small business owners is that their days are filled with struggle, their bank accounts are a constant roller coaster, and if the owner doesn’t come in or God forbid something happens to them, they make no money, and they are potentially out of business.

That's not what it was supposed to be like!!

My goal for every entrepreneur, especially the ones I work with, is that you have the freedom to live the lifestyle you want and create the legacy you deserve, and the ability to choose what you do with your company.

I want to leave you with this thought: It is your responsibility not to create a job for yourself! You are responsible for building a business that provides you with the desired lifestyle! It is your responsibility to create your legacy!

At Decisive Minds (https://DecisiveMinds.com) and Bottom Line Bookkeeping Solutions (https://BottomLineBookkeepingSolutions.com), we specialize in providing top-tier bookkeeping, accounting services, and business consulting tailored to the unique needs of service-based businesses and the construction industry.

Our experienced team is dedicated to delivering accurate financial records, insightful financial reporting, and comprehensive QuickBooks Cleanup services.

We understand the challenges businesses face in maintaining up-to-date financial information, and we are committed to offering personalized, reliable support to help our clients make informed decisions.

With a focus on precision, efficiency, and exceptional customer service, we strive to be a trusted partner in managing your financial operations. This allows you to focus on what you do best—growing your business.

I don’t know about you, but most business owners I have talked to started their businesses for Freedom. They wanted control over their time and money, but then the reality of what it means to build a business catches them in what I call the “Owners Trap.” Our system allows our clients to create the Freedom business that makes them more money and gives them their time back.

How We Got Started

I am a third-generation entrepreneur and have spent my entire life building successful (and some not-so-successful) family businesses. In 2007, we sold our family businesses, and my entire family retired.

Before long, I realized I was spending every day on the couch, and I was not sure what I was going to do with the rest of my life. I was in my early 40s and "retired."

Then it hit me - why wouldn't I help the people I love most, the people who have my heart - I should teach business owners to do what I had done for my entire life.

Thus Decisive Minds was born. (https://DecisiveMinds.com)

https://BottomLineBookkeepingSolutions.com came out of my need for my clients to have accurate financial information so that we could build their businesses. It was such a struggle to get accurate information, and since I have a degree in accounting, it was a natural fit to start a bookkeeping business to help them.

My secret ingredient is the fact that I spent my life growing up in family-owned businesses that we built to a point where we sold them and my entire family retired. They want to know about what sugar does to them and alternatives. Also, I think you can never go wrong with things like 10 Foods to Never Eat or 5 Minutes to a Healthier Heart (exercises, breathing, etc.). I hope that helps and hey here is a little secret to help you figure this out - look at the cover of magazines in your industry for topics. National magazines spend millions to figure out what words to put on their covers to get people to buy the magazine. :) Why recreate the wheel.

This is big thinking at it's best. The opportunity is to look at your industry and figure out how you can be the disrupter. How can you the Uber that shakes up your industry. I will say that it is an intense book and I have found it easier to listen to it on Audible than to read the book. I have listened to it probably 5 times over the last couple of years.

They love pet pictures of their pets and other people's pets.  So where do we see the most pet pictures? Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest. I think your social media strategy should be to share amazing, cute, tear-jerking, laughter-inducing pet pictures. These should be a mix of your own posts and sharing other people's posts. Here's the catch - sometimes your post are just relationship building cute pictures. And sometimes your posts should be to move them to the next level. So you need to determine what that is - send them to a blog post on your website, send them to a class you are teaching, send them to a strategy session. Come up with a list of calls to action that will move people to the next level with you. Good Luck

On the 2nd day of the event, a woman, who I had met briefly the day before stopped me and said: "My roommates and I voted your business card the best out of all the ones we collected yesterday." She went on to explain that: 1. It had my picture on it so she actually remembered talking to me 2. It is slightly larger than average cards - most cards are 2x3.5 and mine are 2.5x3.5 3. It is on good stock and has rounded corners 4. It has a clear call to action on the back of the card. And by the way, she booked a strategy session with me which happens to be the call to action so that worked.  As a business strategist, I think it is important that everything you do be on brand and if your business card sucks - what does that say about your business?  Remember your card is a marketing tool. It should have a purpose and it should tell your prospect what to do next. Are you going to ask them to call you, text you, download something from your website or schedule an appointment? You should choose only one and remember this is not about what you want them to do but about what they would be willing to do. What that means is are they old school and will pick up the phone and call or are they young will only text or connect with you on Instagram. :)

(more) I have spent my life building businesses for myself, my family and now my clients and along the way I have learned a few lessons. First, learn early that you must run your business - do not let your business run you. It's easy to dive in and let it consume your life. Focus on what you do best in your business and get help with everything else. Second, step away from your business on a consistent basis. Do something that takes your mind away from the business. Get a massage, play a round of golf, paint something or travel. The important part is that when you take time away from your business you will not only avoid burnout, you will also come back to your business with a clear head and ability to accomplish more than you could imagine. Third, deep breathes are your friend. If you actually know me then you know that I am a very logical thinker so this might seem a bit out there for me. I promise it works. When you feel the stress building stop what you are doing and take 3 long deep breathes. It will change everything. It's something about the oxygen in your brain - I don't know I am not a scientist but what I can tell you is that it works. Hope this helps. I would love to hear from you about what you would do.
