I believe that all businesses are solutions for someone's problem. If you want to build trust that will reward you at some future point, help the client or customer solve their problem without expecting anything in return.  When people realize you are there to help them, they will reciprocate, either by becoming a customer or recommending you to their friends  based on the experience.
