How We Got Started

I've watched countless businesses launch with excitement and potential, only to close within a few years. Intrigued, I found that while some failed due to limited capital, many closed because they lacked experienced management in areas like operations and HR.

With nearly 20 years in Human Resources, Operations, and Finance, I saw an opportunity to help small business owners avoid these issues. While most have access to a CPA or bookkeeper, reliable support for HR and operational strategy is harder to find. General Managers often learn industry operations quickly but lack the HR knowledge to build a compliant and motivated team.

Ahead Business Support was created to fill that gap. My mission is to offer small businesses effective HR solutions that build a solid foundation for growth. By addressing HR and operations complexities, I help owners focus on their strengths, providing the support needed for long-term success.

If I can have a second stretch goal, I'd make the selection for public office similar to serving on a jury. A group would be called, vetted, and appointed for a period of time. I suspect that we would get more done, make better decisions, and have a government that better represents the society it serves.

My top three would be: 1) Build a team that supports you. Even a solopreneur needs a great team around them. Access to the right people at the right time is the key to staying out of trouble—accountants, lawyers, HR professionals, mentors, coaches, etc. Get used to group thinking problems. 2)... The earlier you lean on data to direct your business decisions; the better off the business will be in the long run. Need help developing and analyzing the metrics unique to your business? Lean on people from item #1. 3) Take time to fall in love with the journey. Arriving at a particular goal (destination) is fleeting. The minute you arrive "here," you immediately start planning to get "there." Focusing on attaining goals misses all the great moments along the way.
