As a kid, I used to correct Mom’s work-related writing. Consistently. I’d read a document aloud, verbatim, and she’d laugh at her mistakes. That’s when I realized I had an indispensable talent for finding errors.
Writers are human and therefore flawed. And anyone who’s ever used a computer keyboard is a writer. That’s most of us.
Humans naturally make mistakes, whether they’ve published a handful of social media posts or authored entire books. Not that we haven’t tried to find ways to improve, but it’s tough.
These days, lots of folks don’t have enough time to ensure the sentences their fingers type are the same ideas their brains intended to offer the world. And unfortunately, when imperfect humans turn to technology for help, we often get mixed results. Auto-correct is just as irritating as it is helpful. Please! And asking AI to write something allows it to “hallucinate.” Seriously?
Often, the better solution is to have another person review your work.
That’s where I come in.
👦 WHO AM I?
I’m a proofreader drawing from 30+ years in writing, geography, and music performance. I help marketers, mappers, and musicians (and plenty of other folks) produce error-free ads, blogs, books, and other public-facing materials.
✒️ WHY?
Proofreading is the last line of defense before publication. A proofreader is the second or third pair of eyes (after editing) that helps professionals avoid embarrassing text mistakes.
