As long as it's a family gym membership, I wouldn't take the gift offensively. I'd actually prefer the gift over the outdated box of chocolates. At least the present involves something you two can enjoy together. There are a variety of classes available at gyms nowadays - like swimming, aerobics, yoga, and sometimes even dancing lessons. I may be bias, but I firmly believe that dancing is good for the brain. I hope you are enjoying those gym memories and having fun with fitness!

It's not really a misconception, but some forget about the many mental and physical health benefits of ballroom dancing. It's fun, great coordination and exercise.
