How We Got Started
City Lifestyle Publications launched its flagship publication (Leawood Lifestyle) in September of 2009. The community-inspired content immediately became something that residents looked forward to receiving in their mailboxes each month. Uplifting content and good news about the community was a welcome friend to readers in the time of an economic downturn.

As a leader at your company/small business owner/CSR manager, you understand the need for solutions to a problem that our nonprofit is trying to solve dealing with Mental illness. Our organization, Our Place of Hope, is actively trying to create solutions and solve the problems that our community is facing.
But our efforts to solve the problem won’t reach their maximum effectiveness unless we have the backing of the entire community.
That’s why I’m writing to you!
Our Vision is to provide people in the Midlands living with mental illness a stable, warm, and inviting environment. Our Place of Hope will be a supportive, encouraging, and non-judgmental place that will include opportunities for work, educational advancement of personal goals, and integration into the community.
Our Place of Hope will be a Clubhouse. What is a Clubhouse? The Clubhouse model is an internationally recognized, evidence based, best practice model for psychiatric rehabilitation for adults living with chronic and persistent mental illness. Our Place of Hope is a member of Clubhouse International and plans to become an accredited Clubhouse. Clubhouse International is the accrediting body for Clubhouses worldwide and is active in social, government, and is active in social, government, and mental advocacy efforts. There are 340 Clubhouses interracially and in an international training center located in Greenville, South Carolina.
As a Sponsor for Our Place of Hope, is an opportunity for your organization to receive exposure and to join other individuals, organizations, and coalitions in our community to educate about behavioral health issues, promote prevention efforts, and create and strengthen community partnerships. Our theme of “Creating of meaning, purpose, and hope for those with mental illness, “this theme reminds us that simple, daily acts of prevention, helping a friend make positive choices of supporting a family member in need, can lead to healthier lives for each of us today, stronger, happier communities of tomorrow.
