This work has been going on starting on its FOURTH week for the size of a very small city block. Two days they were rained out but in the process of installing this large cement walkway they have temporarily removed all 11-12 parking spaces directly across the store and will replace it with maybe 8 spaces if we’re lucky. This space also provides parking for a small but well used park. We have always complained about the lack of parking space in the area, but nobody listens! When this project is all done I will have lost several thousands of dollars in sales, but we will have gained an oversized sidewalk across the street, have left  fewer parking spaces,  created a narrower street with backsides of vehicles sticking out in traffic making it very difficult for our  Lihue station fire trucks and school busses  to have to maneuver around, and now and then please excuse the huge delivery trucks who will be stopping in the middle of the street to deliver their boxes to the stores.  Please fire the geniuses who created this mess!!  AGAIN!!!!! S. It was fun to find treasures hidden in corners of the store or hidden under a misplaced article of clothing. Little kiddies knew where their favorite snacks or candies could be found and were never disappointed with the assortment. Best of all, most families had charge accounts so we walked out of the store with a signature on a charge slip, not having to worry about who was paying for that purchase. It was a store of yesterday and unfortunately not something any of our grandchildren will ever experience. Too bad.

Some times they leave but won’t return for several months because they have enough to last them for a while. In my business a customer like this may be getting tackle  together for a long trip because a couple of his friends or relatives fish , or maybe he is not really into fishing  but because its a long trip he wants to have some tackle just in case.  The best customers come in often looking for new items or colors, are open to trying new ways or new  products, or are replacing what they lost. They’ll buy a few items and leave, but they’ll be back in a few days, often with a friend or friends They’re willing to share their fishing experiences if asked by a visitor or anyone for that matter. A good ambassador for the island and the store.  Older local fishermen can be a challenge to any tackle  shop when you’re trying to sell them a new product.  But, If you stock their favorites they become loyal customers for Life.    I love my store and my customers . But, I wish I  was 25 years younger.

Significant revenue? No. In a small community, it’s word of mouth.  (more) Significant revenue? No. In a small community, it’s word of mouth.
