About Us

Our mission is to enrich the quality of life for seniors and caregivers, and maintain independence through specialized adult activities and respite services. Our goals are to provide a stimulating and welcoming environment for adults and respite and support to caregivers.

Our clients consist of seniors who are losing cognitive or physical autonomy. They may have Alzheimer, dementia or a physical/cognitive disability. We also provide services for seniors who are looking to alleviate loneliness and isolation. Any senior can join our day center. There are activities available to suit everyone’s needs.

How We Got Started

After more than 25 years with Sun Life, Franca Sparapani’s position was deemed redundant. Unemployed for the first time in her life, Franca pondered her future career path. Having lived through the stress of a Father with Alzheimer’s and a mother trying to be a full time caregiver, Franca saw her destiny. The embryo was formed; I will provide respite for caregivers. With a leap of faith; a passionate endeavor takes form.  God will provide, so we will go ahead.

In November 2014, Franca formed a new service in Greenfield Park known as the Adult Activity and Respite Center.  As with any new enterprise, the first months (years) are difficult. Getting the word out, finding clients, hiring staff were all demanding on the energy of this loving person.

On May 15 2019 the centre was registered as a Not for Profit organization called Senior Respite Monteregie) is the only English respite center in Montérégie and the only organization providing English speaking staff for caregiver support.
