I will offer a spec spot to get in the door of an ad agency or local advertiser if they are already using someone else. It's a good way to show them my creativity and ideas are better than their current work. If I land the client, the retention rate is about 60-70%.

Pro Tools is my first choice with Logic Pro X being second. Of course the computer, type of interface, monitors, etc. are all important to creating the sound you want. For mastering, I've found Izotope Ozone to be the easiest to quickly dial in a very nice sound for a variety of genres of music...

Pro Tools is my first choice with Logic Pro X being second. Of course the computer, type of interface, monitors, etc. are all important to creating the sound you want. For mastering, I've found Izotope Ozone to be the easiest to quickly dial in a very nice sound for a variety of genres of music and Waves plug-ins for fine tuning as well. All that being said, at the end of the day, the software and equipment is only as good as the creativity and talent of the actual person producing.
Unless a client has an interest in the product or service I offer, it makes no difference who I am. However, upon meeting your clients for the first time, my unique talents, creativity, and expertise are most important in distinguishing me from competitors.
