What comes to mind when YOU think about YOUR divine purpose?
Answered by:
I am divinely inspired to bolster godparent relationships. Godparents are enduring relationships, practiced across many faiths all over the world. They guide the spiritual health and well-being of children and support families.
In caring for our own godchildren, my husband and I noticed that support for the relationship (after the ceremony) was scarce. With all the confusion about the future of organized religion, it seemed strange that there was a paucity of consistent support (especially within houses of worship) for those divinely charged to carry the torch on the faith journey for upcoming generations. I believe that we were chosen for this work, called to use our skills and hearts to amplify the message and understanding of the unique contributions and challenges within these relationships; in responding to His call, we have been able to grow awareness, support and integration of the godparent experience through building godparent and youth ministries, and by establishing a widely recognized day on the third Sunday in July, devoted to Worshiping, Embracing, Giving, & Serving in celebration of godparent relationships.
