It is the artistic approach of my parents that made me go in business. I am an engineer and I have always tried to solve engineering problems using what I consider to be an artistic approach. I consider both of my parents to be an artists in their profession. About 75 years ago my father was a butcher in an open market that has flies and bees. He will open the different parts of the sheep bodies to attract his customers. Most customers will see a cut piece of meat and want to buy this piece. My father will ask them what dish they want to prepare and will sell them only the pieces that are suitable for that dish. All the other butchers were afraid to cut the meat and put it on display in the open market because flies and bees will lay their eggs on them. Because my father was selling the meat very quick , the bees and the flies did not have enough time to lay their eggs. Because of the way that my father sold meat to customers based on their dish , those customers always came back.
My mother was a seamstress and women will bring her the material to make a dress for their based on the pictures of models in magazines even though those women did not have the figures of the models. My mother always knew how to fit the dress to her customers even though they did not have the figures of models.
While customers returned to my father and mother because of their artistic approach , most of my customers do not return. The reason is that i solve their problems in artistic way that is not incremental and based on working with the dynamic characteristics of their products. In other words , once I solve those problems in non-incremental way , there is no need to use my services to continuously and incrementally improving the performance of the product and minimize its production and operating cost.
By finding someone that has a problem that needs a solution instead of offering more cost effective solution that has no real problem to be solved.
