Retail food supermarkets rely traditionally on the in-store paper circular for advertising. However, this medium may prove to be very expensive, especially if thousands of copies (@11 cents a copy) are distributed via bulk mail. Digital marketing provides a very inexpensive alternative. For instance, we post recipes on Facebook, e-mail the circulars, text Wacky Wednesday specials, post articles and photos on our web site. The big question, however, remains on the effectiveness of digital media. We surely can measure the number of Likes, Shares, Comments or other analytics in Facebook, the web site, etc. however, does this digital traffic translate to more shopping traffic in the store and increased sales?
