About Us

For 30 years, Cote Electric has served northern New England as a premier provider of integrated electrical solutions. We take pride in our industry experience and proven ability to offer superior service and cost-effective electrical solutions. We specialize in generator installation, service and maintenance. Our other specialties are residential and commercial wiring.

How We Got Started

I began my career working for the local municipality traffic department. I began painting roads and installing signs but soon looked upon the traffic signal repair division as an advancement opportunity. So, I went back to school and obtained my Master electrician's license and was soon leading the division as the traffic signal supervisor. Always seeking to expand my abilities I began my own business and enjoyed working for myself so much that I left the Traffic department and went into my business full time. 30 years later I've never regretted the move. I really enjoy teaching others the trade and working with people to solve their electrical needs and issues.

We are incredibly busy. 50% of our business is stand by generators and we are straight out and booking 4 weeks out. Two installs per day. The electrical side is even busier. I'm looking for 5 licensed electrcians if anybody knows where I can find some. Not as often as I would like. We often have to decline new accounts due to lack of personnel. We are actively looking to hire 10 new employees but have had no response. We need licensed electricians but there are none to be found! Getting paid is always an issue. (more) We need licensed electricians but there are none to be found! Getting paid is always an issue.

I'm an electrical contractor who is always looking for electricians. I spend a lot on advertising and attend job fairs but still have trouble getting good help. I've gotten involved in hiring more apprentices than I would like to compensate but this requires 4 years of training before they can even test for their license. It also reduces my companies overall experience level per job. The flip side is that they learn how my firm operates from the beginning and turn out to be good employees. The main thing is not so much getting them as it is keeping them once you have them. A good work environment and competitive wages and benefits are a must.
