Every time I create a public artwork, aka a mural, I make sure to include my website in my signature. As a result, thousands of viewers have seen the url and a certain percentage actually visit. In fact, one of the main reasons why I have maintained a stream of mural-painting over the past 30+ years across Canada is that they act as visual magnets that attract people to my website and by association, help grow my business. This practice has been extremely effective in attracting both new clients as well as individuals who inevitably drop by our bricks and mortar business, "G-G's Gallery and Gifts", at The Resort Village of Manitou Beach in Central Saskatchewan. Here is a detail of a recent mural commissioned by the Town of Tisdale in SK. The mural is 12' x 96' in total.

That's a tough one and nearly impossible. I have to rely on funneling my friends to me with evocative posts that include pictures and videos. Having said that, I realize it's important to have a "2-way street". I do my level best to interact with my friends on their terms as well. Please visit me... Sounds like a double negative to me, and not a very constructive question. Let's turn it around and ask, "Are you inclined to shop in an art gallery?" What are you thinking? Wow! What a timely question! I am in that predicament as we speak. I guess, take a deep breath and have faith that the payment WILL arrive. Patience is a virtue, but it doesn't hurt to send off diplomatic reminders about once a week! The good news is that I negotiated a 50% deposit on this project as my signing fee. Makes the wait a little less painful.

I guess it is noteworthy that I called the portfolio "Murals: My Art and My Passion"... Just to give you an idea, if you do not follow that link, here is one of most ambitious, AKA "passionate" murals: To give you a better sense of the scale, here is the mural shortly after its unveiling, with celebrants at the base: "March of Trinity" at Sacred Heart Church in Saskatoon. To read more, please visit my website. So yeah, I vote for passion every time.

The food is expensive enough. I do not believe in the idea of offering a free service to a commercial entity. The math doesn't make any sense. What about damage to the artwork? What about the social currency or lack thereof? I solved the whole "exposure" issue by opening a seasonal Art Gallery out of our home. My wife and I have been in business for 9-going-on-10 years now and every season gets better. The secret to our success is that we live at a very popular tourist destination in Western Canada. 99% of our sales come from the fresh-faced tourist trade. On the other hand, my big-ticket items are my yearly mural commissions. Check this link to see some curated examples. But I digress. Back to our little gallery. Here, we have the most high-quality, sustained exposure of our artwork (eg: not jostling for attention with dozens or even hundreds of other artists in a typical commercial gallery space) than ever before. The result? Plenty of sales of both original artworks and also, replications. Something for every budget. The most recently installed mural "forever YOUNG" at Young, SK. is 80' x 20'. Kinda HUGE.
